How Does Functional Nutritional Therapy Work?
An FNTP takes a natural and holistic approach to health and wellness. We look at the whole person, not just their symptoms. We acknowledge that everyone is different, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach to good health. We identify areas where the client is most challenged and support it. A body in balance is a body in harmony with itself and it’s environment.
Each session is unique and tailored to the individual’s needs, desires and goals. During the initial consultation, I’ll take a detailed health history, including information about your diet, lifestyle, and exercise. I’ll also ask you about your current health concerns and any symptoms you are experiencing. This information will help me to understand your overall health picture and identify any imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms.
I’ll use this information to create a customized plan based on your needs, which may include dietary and lifestyle changes and targeted supplements. I’ll also give you practical advice and support you along the journey, to help you implement these changes so that you can reach your most desired goals.
I’m not a doctor. I do not treat, diagnose or cure. I do things to get the body well!
Plasmalogens are critical membrane components involved with neurotransmitter release, found in high concentrations in the brain and heart. However, they are made mainly in the liver, without adequate food sources. They are essential to nerve cells and help cells communicate and function. Membrane fusion is how neurotransmitters are released. Several scientific studies show plasmalogen levels are low in people with neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis.
Plasmalogen levels are also low in pancreatic cancer, diabetes, and heart and stroke. Low levels of Plasmalogens are associated with reduced function (dementia) and death. Plasmalogens Perform several critical biochemical functions in the body. Membrane fusion, membrane fluidity, membrane structure- Myelin, Peroxide neutralization. The body has a high demand and a high turnover. Constant uninterrupted supply is essential to optimal health. Peak levels are observed by age 40 to 50 and levels decline thereafter. This test is predictive of future outcomes. The #1 reason to do this is because of dementia and Alzheimer’s, you can catch it long before it happens. Did you know that plasmalogen levels in your blood are far more important for your risk of dementia in the future than your APOE genotype?
In interpreting this laboratory test we can identify where your system needs to be supported. Then we can increase and support cellular function.
